March 8th is International Women's Day — Join Us in Celebrating Girls' Education!

March 8th marks International Women's Day, and all month long, we’re celebrating Women’s History Month — a time to honor the achievements of women around the world and highlight the ongoing work needed to build a more just and equal future.

At Impact Network, in partnership with PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools), we believe in the power of girls’ education to transform lives and communities. When girls stay in school, they are more likely to gain financial independence, delay early marriage, and invest in the well-being of their families — creating ripple effects that uplift entire communities.

Yet, for many girls in rural Africa, the path to education is not easy. They face challenges like societal expectations that often push them out of the classroom, early marriage, and limited support with menstrual health.

This week, to celebrate International Women’s Day series we are showcasing programs to support girls’ education and help them stay in school:

🌟 Keeping Girls in School
Education is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty. But many girls still face barriers that prevent them from completing their education. We work to create safe, supportive school environments where girls can focus on learning — and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

Glow Clubs
Our Glow Clubs give girls a space to talk about health, education, and leadership. With mentorship from trained facilitators and peer support from their classmates, girls gain the confidence and life skills they need to overcome obstacles, set goals, and stay in school.

❤️ Pad-Making Workshops
No girl should miss school because of her period. Our workshops teach girls how to make reusable menstrual pads — a simple yet powerful solution that ensures they can attend school every day with confidence and dignity. These efforts are combined with private latrines, hygiene education, and community awareness to tackle the stigma around menstrual health.

🏀 NetGirls Zambia
Through sports programs like NetGirls, we empower girls to build confidence, leadership, and teamwork — skills that extend far beyond the playing field. With over 100 netball teams, girls learn to challenge gender norms, develop resilience, and support each other — all while having fun.

These initiatives are more than just programs — they are pathways to opportunity, helping girls become the next generation of strong, empowered women.
