Impact Network + PEAS
A Transformative Partnership for Education…
Over the past decade, Impact Network has been committed to delivering high-quality education to rural primary schools in Zambia, reaching some of the most marginalized communities. Our programs have achieved impressive results, including a 93% pass rate for Grade 7 students in 2023.
Yet, a critical question remains: What happens after our students graduate from primary school?
Many well-prepared students face limited opportunities, often attending underperforming secondary schools ranked among the lowest in their districts. This is unacceptable. To address this, we’re taking a bold step to ensure our students’ success continues beyond primary school.
Announcing Our New Partnership
We’re thrilled to share that Impact Network is joining forces with PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools). Together, we’ll provide high-quality education to over 200,000 students annually across 376 schools in Zambia, Uganda, and Ghana, creating a comprehensive K-12 education pipeline. This partnership will not only allow students to transition seamlessly into secondary school but will also strengthen our ability to deliver impactful, evidence-based programs in both primary and secondary education.
Who is PEAS?
PEAS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to affordable, high-quality secondary education in rural Africa. Like Impact Network, they focus on underserved communities and are committed to empowering students—particularly girls—with the skills and confidence to thrive.
How We’re Working Together
· Creating a Seamless K-12 Pipeline: Supporting students' transitions from primary to secondary school in underserved communities.
· Expanding Our Reach: Bringing our combined expertise to schools in Uganda, Ghana, and across Zambia.
· Empowering Girls: Addressing barriers to education for girls and fostering gender equity.
· Strengthening Education Systems: Partnering with governments to enhance school leadership and improve outcomes.
· Scaling Our Impact: Expanding evidence-based programs to serve more students and cover more regions.
Why This Matters
In Sub-Saharan Africa, only 1 in 10 children completes secondary school. By working together, we’re addressing this challenge head-on, ensuring more students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Educated children, especially girls, transform their communities, earning higher incomes, investing in their families, and driving long-term social and economic growth.
What This Means for Impact Network
As we step into this exciting phase, roles will adapt to support the merger and future initiative. As we previously shared, Reshma Patel will step away from day-to-day management but will continue to guide the organization as a member for both Impact Network and PEAS. Katie Kerr, who has served as VP of External Relations for seven years, will now lead Impact Network’s U.S. office and strategy. We’re also excited to welcome Jess Brown as Director of US Philanthropy. PEAS’s senior leadership team, with their extensive experience in secondary education, will oversee the combined organization, while our Zambia team will report to their exceptional Country Director, Beatrice Likando.
This partnership represents a significant milestone in our journey toward a world where every child has the tools to succeed. Your support makes this work possible. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey. Together, we’re building brighter futures for generations to come.
